Crisis Intervention Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Crisis Intervention Worker to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a Crisis Intervention Worker, you will play a critical role in providing immediate assessment and intervention for individuals who present to the Emergency Department in crisis due to symptoms associated with a serious and severe psychiatric problem, addiction, and/or psycho-social problem(s).
Key Responsibilities:- Provide immediate assessment and intervention for individuals in crisis
- Work collaboratively with hospital colleagues in a fast-paced environment
- Develop and implement care plans for individuals in crisis
- Develop and foster community linkages and resources
- Provide quality customer service to patients, families, and clinical professionals
- Work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Masters Degree in Social Work, Nursing, or Counseling/Psychology with relevant experience in mental health and addictions
- Registration with the appropriate professional college
- Minimum of three years recent, related experience in crisis intervention in the fields of mental health and addictions
- Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of best practice guidelines in crisis intervention and crisis theory
- Excellent assessment and counseling skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with and advocate for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness
Hours: Days, evenings, nights, 8 and 12 hour shifts with overnight, weekends, and statutory holidays as the crisis program is a 24 hour service which runs seven days a week (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
