About the Role

The British Council is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Centre Assistant to support our Early Years programmes in Spain. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to young children, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support class teachers in planning, preparation, delivery, and assessment of curricular activities to ensure learning is advanced.
  • Take an active part in class activities, setting up planned activities, supporting pupils, and responding appropriately to advance learning.
  • Use effective language, questioning, and understanding to support learning activities.
  • Support and create attractive and interactive displays to extend learning both within and beyond the classroom.
  • Ensure a safe and secure learning environment in the classroom.
  • Work with substitute teachers if the main teacher is absent.

Off-Site Specific Duties

  • Support Early Years teachers and off-site coordinator with collection of children from the playground before the beginning of classes.
  • Help collect children who are missing from their class once the class has started.
  • In agreement with the coordinator, inform parents of any absences.
  • Work with more than one group of children if necessary.

Requirements

  • Right to work in country
  • Essential - Practical experience and/or training in an educational setting
  • Desirable - 1 year of classroom experience working with children aged 2-5
