Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Centre Assistant to join our team at the British Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality English language teaching to children aged 2-5 years old.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support class teachers in planning, preparation, delivery, and assessment of curricular activities to ensure learning is advanced.
  • Take an active part in class activities, setting up planned activities, supporting pupils, and responding appropriately to advance learning.
  • Use effective language, questioning, and understanding to support learning activities.
  • Support and create attractive and interactive displays to extend learning both within and beyond the classroom.
  • Support any initiatives put into action in the centre.
  • Ensure a safe and secure learning environment in the classroom.
  • Constantly work to keep classroom areas tidy and free of clutter, helping children to put away equipment at the end of the day.

Off-site Specific Duties:

  • Support Early Years teachers and off-site coordinator with collection of children from the playground before the beginning of classes.
  • Help collect children who are missing from their class once the class has started.
  • In agreement with the coordinator, inform parents of any absences.
  • Work with more than one group of children if necessary.

Requirements:

  • Right to work in country
  • Essential - Practical experience and/or training in an educational setting
  • Desirable - 1 year of classroom experience working with children aged 2-5
  • B1 level or above in English and B1 level or above in the local language
