Job Title: Vision Teacher - Full Time Continuing with Benefits

The Vancouver School District is seeking a qualified Vision Teacher to join our team. As a Vision Teacher, you will work with students who are blind or partially sighted, providing support and instruction to help them reach their full potential.

Job Summary:

This is a full-time continuing position with benefits, working with students in grades K-12. The successful candidate will work as part of a team at the Vision Resource Centre and with staff in schools and other professionals in the field.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction and support to students who are blind or partially sighted
  • Work with staff in schools and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure that students receive a comprehensive education
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in teaching students who are blind or partially sighted
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Education
  • Master's Degree in Visual Impairment
  • Competency in Braille codes; French and music Braille codes would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of eye conditions and the impact on learning needs of visually impaired students
  • Comprehensive understanding of adaptive technology
  • Ability to adapt strategies, techniques, and materials needed to support visually impaired students
  • BC Teaching Certificate (TRB)
  • Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service (TQS)
