Vision Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Vision Teacher to join our team at the Vancouver School District. As a Vision Teacher, you will work with students who are blind or partially sighted, providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed in their academic and personal pursuits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach students who are blind or partially sighted, using a variety of teaching methods and technologies to ensure they have access to the curriculum.
- Work with students to develop their skills in areas such as braille, assistive technology, and independent living.
- Collaborate with other teachers and support staff to ensure that students receive a comprehensive education.
- Provide consultation and support to parents and other educators to ensure that students receive the support they need.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education
- Master's Degree in Visual Impairment
- Competency in Braille codes; French and music braille codes would be an asset
- Working knowledge of eye conditions and the impact on learning needs of visually impaired students
- Comprehensive understanding of adaptive technology is required
- Ability to adapt strategies, techniques and materials needed to support visually impaired students.
- BC Teaching Certificate (TRB)
- Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service (TQS)
