Recreation Therapist

Baycrest is seeking a skilled Recreationist to join our Therapeutic Recreation Services team. As a Recreationist, you will play a vital role in developing and executing therapeutic programs that promote leisure and well-being for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Therapeutic Recreation and Culture & Arts teams to design and implement engaging programs
  • Document program outcomes and participant progress
  • Participate in interprofessional team meetings to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Supervise and train volunteers to support program delivery
  • Contribute to professional development opportunities for the Therapeutic Recreation team
  • Coordinate services with other departments to ensure comprehensive care
  • Manage program supplies and resources

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year College Diploma in Recreation or Activation or equivalent
  • Membership in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) or Activity Professionals of Ontario (APO)
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating creative recreation programs
  • Supervisory experience with volunteers an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with geriatric populations with multiple medical conditions and/or cognitive impairment an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources and Jewish culture an asset
  • Second language an asset
