About the Role

The Central Academic Advising Office is seeking a Registration Peer to support students in navigating the university's registration systems. As a Registration Peer, you will work in a dynamic environment, providing guidance and support to students in person and virtually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming and friendly environment for students, ensuring their needs are met and concerns are addressed.
  • Respond to emails in the advising inbox, addressing student inquiries and concerns.
  • Maintain an online booking schedule, ensuring seamless communication with students and advisors.
  • Track walk-in and virtual appointments, ensuring timely and effective support.
  • Assist students in navigating MyMRU, My Schedule Builder, and the Registration Landing Page.
  • Refer students to online advising guides and mruGradU8, ensuring they have access to relevant resources.
  • Support students in creating a course schedule that aligns with their academic and personal needs.
  • Make meaningful referrals to campus resources, ensuring students receive the support they need.
  • Provide clear and accurate information, while avoiding answers that may be incomplete or unknown.
  • Facilitate registration information sessions, ensuring students have a comprehensive understanding of the registration process.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable navigating MRU's electronic resources, including the MRU website, MyMRU, mruGradU8, and the Registration Landing Page.
  • Enthusiasm for working with fellow students and a strong desire to support their success.
  • Awareness and understanding of campus resources available to students.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to create engaging presentations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Current MRU student in good academic standing.
