About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Community Mental Health Clinician to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families in our community.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced clinical practice and interventions in the community setting, working as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. You will have a strong understanding of alcohol and drug addiction issues, substance use assessments, treatment methodologies, intervention strategies, and community dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mental health and/or substance abuse assessments and take steps to stabilize crisis situations and make referrals to follow-up services and support.
- Coordinate client treatment by ensuring that clients have a service plan that maximizes rehabilitation and utilizes relevant community supports.
- Promote and facilitate client independence by modeling, counseling, and teaching life skills within a bio-psycho-social rehabilitation model.
- Maintain required statistical documentation and health information systems in accordance with Fraser Health processes and standards.
- Participate in orientation and training of new staff and provide internal, local, and regional training on specialized addiction issues as requested.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Master's Degree in a health-related discipline from an approved post-secondary institution.
- Three (3) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business use.
- Demonstrated understanding of alcohol and drug addiction issues, substance use assessments, treatment methodologies, intervention strategies, and community dynamics.
- Demonstrated knowledge of available programs and services, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering services in the community.
- Demonstrated advanced competence congruent with the organization's framework and standards within a rehabilitation/recovery, harm-reduction focused model.
