Job Overview


The Salvation Army is seeking a skilled and dedicated Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team in Weetamah. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of our properties and facilities.


Estimated Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on experience.


Job Description


This role involves assisting in the maintenance of our facilities and properties, performing general repairs, janitorial tasks, grounds upkeep, and coordinating with contractors as necessary.



  • This is a part-time position, requiring 30 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Benefits include paid vacation and sick days, benefits, and RRSP contributions.

Main Responsibilities


You will be responsible for:



  1. Maintenance: Completing minor repairs, maintenance, and preventative tasks in a timely and thorough manner.
  2. Completing regular reviews of the condition of the facility in conjunction with the supervisor.
  3. Working with the supervisor to secure contracts for projects, including quote submissions and approvals.
  4. Maintaining a list of qualified and/or approved contractors for trades and services.
  5. May undertake minor renovation projects, including dry walling, carpentry, minor electrical repairs, painting, and plumbing, etc.
  6. Coordinates set up and tear down of specified spaces for regular or seasonal events.
  7. Checks doors and windows to ensure building safety.
  8. Ensures the external property is kept in a safe and clean condition, including removing garbage, discarded needles, cutting grass, shoveling snow, and removing ice from sidewalks, etc.

Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A minimum of one (1) year of related experience in building operations, property maintenance, including heat plant, HVAC, carpentry, construction, and general repairs (i.e., electrical & plumbing).
  • Working knowledge of building codes and regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and fire and emergency procedures.
  • A valid Manitoba Driver's license, with a satisfactory driver's abstract for review and verification.
  • Working knowledge of Office365 is an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to provide a current Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent intervention training is an asset.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, and provide an original copy of a Background Check.
