Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide professional, courteous, and service-oriented interactions with library users, including face-to-face, phone, and email support.
- Library Operations: Assist with daily library operations, including shelving, sorting, and processing library materials, as well as opening and closing procedures.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with library staff to achieve common goals, provide direction to student assistants, and contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in Library Information Systems, Microsoft applications, and familiarity with interfaces of relational databases.
- Problem-Solving: Apply knowledge of library policies and procedures to resolve issues and provide effective solutions.
- Education: High school diploma with a minimum of one year directly related library experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills, a demonstrated focus on customer service, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience: A broad understanding of library issues, principles, practices, philosophy, and procedures is desired.
The University of Northern British Columbia offers a competitive salary range of $51,287.60 to $53,398.80, prorated based on hours worked. This seasonal position normally runs September to April 30, each academic year, with a minimum of 11 hours per week and evening and weekend shifts required.
