Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Global Rights Advocate Coordinator to join our team at the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI). This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic organization that is dedicated to advancing forestland and resource rights for indigenous peoples, Afro-descendant peoples, local communities, and women within these groups.

About RRI

RRI is a global coalition of over 150 organizations working together to promote the recognition of land rights and address human rights issues related to forestland and resource governance. Our mission is to empower local communities and advocate for their rights, ensuring that they have a say in the decision-making processes that affect their lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster partnerships with local communities, civil society organizations, and governments to advance land rights and human rights initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage stakeholders, build coalitions, and mobilize resources to support RRI's mission.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building to partner organizations to enhance their ability to advocate for land rights and human rights.
  • Coordinate and participate in international meetings, conferences, and workshops to represent RRI's interests and advance its mission.
  • Collaborate with RRI's teams to develop and implement programs, projects, and campaigns to promote land rights and human rights.
  • Conduct research and analysis on land rights and human rights issues, identifying trends, challenges, and opportunities for RRI to leverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international development, human rights, environmental studies, or anthropology.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in advocacy, community engagement, or program management, preferably in the context of land rights and human rights.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and partnership-building.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, with knowledge of other languages being an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
