About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Lawyer to join our team at the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission. As a Staff Lawyer, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and representation to clients in family matters in Supreme Court (Family Division).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal opinions and file legal documents
  • Attend court proceedings and participate in mediation sessions
  • Offer useful advice to clients and participate in community outreach
  • Deliver legal education in family law and related procedures
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
  • Practicing member in good standing of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in family law and negotiation, debate, and persuasion techniques
  • Proficiency with computer software packages, including legal research applications, MS Word, and Outlook
