Radiopharmacy Nuclear Medicine Specialist

Vancouver Coastal Health seeks a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join the team at Vancouver General Hospital. As part of this position, you will be responsible for performing procedures and techniques within Nuclear Medicine, including radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and special cell labeling for local hospitals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals for shipping
- Label cells using sterile techniques
- Instruct staff on manufacturing and cell labeling techniques
- Operate nuclear medicine laboratory equipment
- Perform routine quality control tests on equipment and radiopharmaceuticals
- Monitor radioactive storage areas using detection devices and dispose of radioactive substances and contaminated items according to established guidelines
Requirements:
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine
- Two years' recent experience in radioisotope imaging and radiopharmacy dispensing or equivalent education, training, and experience
- Radiopharmacy experience preferred
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiopharmacy dispensing theory and radiation safety practices
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques
- Knowledge of safe work procedures with nuclear medicine laboratory equipment
- Good manufacturing practice (GMP) knowledge
- Familiarity with radiopharmacy equipment and computer applications
- Knowledge of Bio Rx applications
- Understanding of CNSC, WCB, and TDG regulations
- Research process and methodology knowledge
- Ability to perform radioisotope laboratory examinations according to departmental standards
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively with others
- Adaptability to multiple and changing priorities
- Physical ability to perform job duties
- Proficiency in computerized patient care/radiopharmacy information systems
