Student Recruiter Advisor

The Student Recruiter Advisor is a key member of the Douglas College team, responsible for promoting programs and services to prospective students. This role involves planning, maintaining, and executing student domestic recruitment programs, as well as providing exceptional client-centred service to all stakeholder groups.
Key Responsibilities- Promote and coordinate strategies and programs for student domestic recruitment, including designing presentations, presenting to various groups, and providing information on post-secondary programs.
- Supervise the work of Student Assistants and Co-op Students, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Support the Associate Student Recruiter Advisor in supervising the Student Ambassador volunteer group.
- Provide onsite supervision for College events involving student activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution, plus two years' related work experience.
- Working knowledge of the B.C. post-secondary education system, including admission requirements and programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, including written and verbal fluency in English.
- Working knowledge of training and/or job requirements for a wide range of academic, vocational, and technical careers.
- General knowledge of financial services and processes, including entrance scholarships and Canada & BC Student Loan application processes.
- Criminal Record Check required as a condition of employment.
- Demonstrated ability to execute student recruiting strategies, including speaking to small and large groups, interviewing prospective students, and interacting with people of various backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and produce a wide range of recruiting and retention events.
- Experience in providing supervision in a work environment or a demonstrated understanding of effective supervisory practices.
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster a student staff team.
- Demonstrated ability to assess student staff performance and organize required training.
