Job Overview

The Associate Dean of Social Sciences will provide leadership for Redeemer's social sciences programs by overseeing program development, curriculum, and faculty recruitment and development. This role involves teaching in a discipline within the Social Sciences area, participating in institutional strategic planning, and contributing to the overall direction of the university.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the senior academic leadership team in ensuring mission alignment and strategic growth across programs and curriculum.
  • Provide oversight for academic, administrative, and vision-related matters related to the Social Sciences area and programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty to engage with institutional strategic planning and implement new initiatives.
  • Develop and implement professional development opportunities for Social Sciences faculty in teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Address student concerns while maintaining standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Teach courses with a reduced load in one of the academic programs in the Social Sciences area or possibly in the Core.
  • Provide leadership in an academic area such as the Core Program, Teaching and Learning, Mentoring, or Faculty Research, depending on the candidate's skills and interests.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and the ability to integrate faith and learning in a Christian post-secondary context.
  • A terminal degree in a social sciences discipline and experience teaching courses in one of the programs offered in Redeemer's Social Sciences area.
  • Ten years' experience as a faculty member in an undergraduate liberal arts context.
  • Five or more years' experience in an academic leadership position with oversight of program and/or faculty.
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional people skills, including the ability to motivate faculty and staff members and create a relational environment.

This is a full-time position with an estimated annual salary of $110,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Reformed Christian worldview and be able to communicate effectively with faculty, students, and other stakeholders.
