About the Role

CASA Mental Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our clinical team. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will work collaboratively with inter-professional team members to ensure success in the area of clinical service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social mental health assessments to identify client needs and develop treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, formulating diagnoses and providing therapeutic interventions to support clients in achieving therapeutic goals.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for children and families, promoting healthy relationships and coping skills.
  • Carry out case management functions, advocating on behalf of clients as needed and ensuring seamless transitions between services.
  • Act as an active, contributing member of an inter-professional team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
  • Follow agency policy and practice regarding admission, discharge, and maintenance of health records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Programs and Services

CASA Mental Health offers a range of programs and services, including:

  • Core: A comprehensive mental health treatment program for children ages three to 17, providing general mental health services and stepping families up or down into more appropriate levels of care as needed.
  • Family Therapy: A program helping families understand each other's needs and find better ways to work together, using evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches.
  • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Program: A program building on caregivers' strengths to meet their child's needs through developing practical skills and promoting parent-child interactions.
  • Indigenous Mental Health Services: A program providing direct mental health care to Indigenous children, youth, and families from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities, based in Indigenous cultures, worldviews, and spiritualities.
  • Trauma Program: A program nurturing connection and safety in the caregiver-child relationship after experiencing trauma, for children and youth ages three to 17 with complex developmental trauma or attachment issues.
  • Adolescent Day Program: A program improving the social and learning skills of youth with serious mental health and/or addiction challenges, providing group, family, and individual therapy, as well as education in a small classroom setting.
  • Children's Day Program: A program improving the social and learning skills of children with serious mental health and/or addictions challenges, providing group, family, and individual therapy, as well as education in a small classroom setting.
  • Preschool Day Program: A program providing specialized early childhood mental health care in a small classroom setting, supporting the social, emotional, academic, and physical development of children ages four and five.
  • CASA House: A live-in program for teens with significant mental health and/or addiction challenges, providing individual, group, and family therapy, social and life skills training, and on-site schooling in small classroom settings.
  • CASA Classrooms: A program partnering with the Government of Alberta, community partners, and school divisions to deliver mental health care in classrooms, addressing the need for services closer to students through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher.
  • Triage and Transition: A team managing patients' entry into and exit from mental health services within CASA, ensuring seamless transitions and reducing wait times for urgent mental health service needs.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree in social work, occupational therapy, child and youth counseling, addictions counseling, or psychology.
  • Experience working in a clinical practice setting and in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
  • Membership in good standing with a professional association/college, or eligibility for membership with a professional association/college.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification, as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
