About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Physiotherapist to join our Hants Health and Wellness Team (HHWT). As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing wellness programming and navigation, chronic disease management, nutrition education, and emotional wellness counselling to our community.

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, Primary Health Care, you will use your critical thinking and clinical judgment to support patients in managing their chronic disease and wellness. You will work collaboratively with our team, primary care providers, other healthcare providers, and community groups to maintain awareness of existing supports within the community and surrounding areas.

This is a permanent full-time position, requiring 75 hours biweekly. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The hourly rate is $33.96-$42.89. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree in physiotherapy from an accredited university required
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists required
  • Must be eligible for membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Minimum one year experience in each of the following: working with people with chronic disease in an exercise program or setting; working with community groups/partners building trusting relationships through working together on projects/initiatives/partnerships that benefit the public (professional and/or volunteer); individual and group education/facilitation utilizing adult education, self-management supports, and motivational enhancement principles
  • Understanding of population health, health promotion strategies, and behaviour change principles
  • In-depth knowledge of local health and community-based services
  • Demonstrates person-centered/family-focused, diversity-focused approaches to care
  • Well-developed interpersonal, teamwork, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to change
  • Demonstrates innovation in program planning, implementation, and evaluation, and quality improvement, planning skills
  • Computer skills (MS Office, email, and internet)
  • Annual BLS AED certification and WHMIS training and certification
  • RQI training
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and daily access to a reliable vehicle
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset
