Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Physician Associate to join our Mental Health team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our mental health services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop treatment plans for patients under the supervision of a psychiatrist.
  • Participate in patient rounds, contribute to care planning, and provide clinical reviews of patients in collaboration with the attending psychiatrist.
  • Develop and maintain excellent clinical records, including obtaining collateral information from relevant support systems.
  • Provide discharge planning for patients to community-based resources and participate in case conferences with family and other significant people in the patient's life.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary psychiatric care teams to plan and deliver care, adapting to complex and dynamic interprofessional and clinical situations.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects, professional development activities, and attend clinical department rounds, grand rounds, and other educational/research sessions.
Requirements
  • Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
  • Minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist, verified by the CPSBC.
  • Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs).
  • Meet the CPSBC's English language proficiency requirements and be eligible for registration with the CPSBC in the Associate Physician class, under sponsorship by Fraser Health Authority.
  • Valid Canadian Citizenship, be a permanent resident, or be legally able to live and work in British Columbia.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with other health professionals, disciplines, and hold excellent interpersonal skills.
