Clinical Resource Nurse

Role Summary
The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) provides leadership in the delivery of care activities in defined areas of clinical expertise. In conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Leader, Assessment Module Leader, Nurse Educators, and the Professional Practice Leader - Nursing, the CRN supervises nursing practice, provides clinical leadership, guidance, and support to team members.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver certification courses in topics such as chemotherapy administration, IV therapy, central venous catheter care, perioperative, and postanesthetic nursing in brachytherapy to nurses.
- Organize and deliver orientation sessions for new nursing employees.
- In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Leader, Assessment Module Leader, and Professional Practice Leader or designate, identify individual nurses' learning needs and help implement an appropriate plan to achieve the desired level of competency.
- Participate in competency-based education/preceptorship pathways.
- Develop and assess written and electronic instructional materials.
- Participate in the performance appraisal process for nursing staff.
- Provide clinical leadership and consultation to clinical staff and students.
- Assist the Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Leader, Assessment Module Leader with planning, developing, and evaluating patient care.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Three years recent clinical experience in a related program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, leadership, and work direction.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and coach staff.
- Demonstrated expertise in the provision of clinical care to oncology patients in the designated area.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with others.
- Proven conflict resolution skills.
- Effective team building skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in collaboration with others.
- Knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
