Black & McDonald's Facilities Maintenance team is growing, and we're looking for a skilled Building Operator to join our team. As a Building Operator, you will be responsible for conducting routine property and site inspections, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring the efficient operation of mechanical and electrical systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine property and site inspections to identify maintenance needs and perform tasks as required.
  • Complete preventive and demand maintenance tasks, including chemical treatment maintenance, filter changes, and equipment repairs.
  • Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, and life safety systems.
  • Monitor electrical power distribution systems and building automation systems, responding to alarms in a timely and methodical manner.
  • Perform minor repairs, including replacing washers, faucets, and clearing drains.
  • Ensure maximum energy efficiency and inspect/operate/maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all applicable government codes and regulations.

Education Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Building Environment System certificate or a trade license (BES 1 and/or 2).

Work Experience Requirements

  • Building Operator with 3-5 years' facilities maintenance and operations experience.
  • Strong technical capabilities in building systems and equipment.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Ability to work independently, traveling to various sites in the GTA.
  • Excellent customer service skills, ensuring client requests are responded to professionally and promptly.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and/or working at heights.
  • Bending and lifting (under 30kg) required.
  • Valid driver's license is required, with a clean driver's abstract.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.
