Job Summary:
The Oncology Nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive cancer care to patients across the oncology spectrum: assessment, intervention, treatment administration, and follow-up in the ambulatory setting. This role involves patient/family education, nursing assessments, collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team, and providing appropriate interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide holistic cancer care to patients
- Participate in patient/family education
- Make pertinent nursing assessments
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team
- Provide appropriate interventions
Requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
- Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Knowledge of the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses
- Proficient with computers and software applications
- Satisfactory employment record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Nursing
- Three (3) years' experience in medical/surgical or ambulatory care
- Knowledge and experience with oncology
- Experience with electronic charting
- Ability to speak French
Asset Qualifications:
- Certified Oncology Nurse (CON(C))
- Knowledge and experience with wound care
- Knowledge and experience with patients receiving radiation therapy
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Leadership
