We are seeking a detail-oriented Heritage Permit Officer to join our team at Musqueam Indian Band. As a key member of the archaeological and Intergovernmental Affairs team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the respectful management of Musqueam heritage resources.
Job Summary:The Heritage Permit Officer is responsible for overseeing the review, response, and issuance of Musqueam Heritage Investigation/Research Permits as well as responses to BC's Heritage Conservation Act (HCA) permits.
Main Responsibilities:- Learning about archaeological processes and procedures
- Reviewing HCA permit applications and providing timely responses
- Collaborating with the Senior Archaeologist to review Musqueam Heritage Investigation/Research Permits and provide issuance recommendations
- Receiving and tracking permit fees and issuing permits upon approval by the Senior Archaeologist
- Tracking permit requirements and obligations, including reviewing draft permit reports and providing feedback
- Scheduling archaeological field technicians and managing their work
- Invoicing clients for field technician services
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of heritage policies, permits, and procedures
- Working with the GIS department to maintain a spatial database of permitted work
- An archaeology degree or relevant CRM experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat required
- Cultural competency and knowledge of Musqueam cultural traditions an asset
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- A valid driver's license is not required but may be an asset
- A successful criminal record check is mandatory
