Swift Current, Canada GFL Environmental Full time

GFL Environmental is seeking a Landfill Equipment Operator to contribute to our team in Saskatchewan. This is a part-time position.

As a Landfill Operator, you will be responsible for maintaining the landfill's organization and safety for the environment. You will use bulldozers, front-end loaders, and other heavy equipment to compact waste and cover it with dirt. This critical role helps keep our community clean and healthy.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the tipping area to prevent litter from blowing away.
  • Check compost areas, set up bait stations, and complete reports about on-site water.
  • Pick up loose trash to maintain the landfill's appearance.
  • Collaborate with experts to ensure waste is filled to grade.
  • Inspect and maintain bulldozers and other equipment, including adding fluids and greasing parts.
  • Clean trash off the machines' tracks to ensure smooth operation.
  • Attend meetings to learn about safety procedures and other essential information.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Problem-solving skills and common sense.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read, speak, understand, and write English.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:

  • You will work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • You will operate heavy equipment approximately half the time.
  • The work environment can be noisy.
  • You will work until 5:45 PM each day.
