Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager who can lead and motivate accounting staff members and increase department accuracy and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks, oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information. They will motivate accounting staff members, develop and implement department controls and procedures, and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records and participate in audits or reconciliations as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret financial results and perform robust variance analysis.
  • Prepare and file government tax returns as required.
  • Calculate and submit franchise royalties and advertising fees.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and perform month-end accruals including utilities.

Finance Business Partnership:

  • Partner with operations (Burger King and Starbucks business) to understand key drivers and drains of the financial results in driving future-oriented action.
  • Provide general ledger reconciliation on capital projects.
  • Assist other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.
  • Other ad-hoc support to cross-functional teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education in Finance, Accounting or Business. MBA an asset.
  • Accounting designation CPA, CMA preferred.
  • QSR experience an asset.
  • +5 years of finance experience in Accounting and FP&A capacity.

  • Possesses refined verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate complex information to internal and external stakeholders in a clear, concise and focused manner.
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to break down and explain complex concepts, ideas, models, and issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to relate and communicate with a diverse group of individuals, creating a collaborative environment of trust, and be able to influence changes both internally and externally.
  • Strong knowledge of analytics, modelling/forecasting, business planning, budgeting, and management reporting, along with highly developed commercial awareness.
  • Demonstrate ability to use expertise and skills to see the bigger picture and develop ideas in pursuit of positive outcome for the team and the organization.

Compensation

$120,000 - $150,000 per year plus benefits package.
