Medical Transcription Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Transcription Assistant to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our Workplace Health Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of incident reports and claims data.
Key Responsibilities- Interview employees to obtain details of incidents, exposures, and near misses, and enter information into the WHITE database system.
- Gather information from employees and managers to complete incident reports, and verify accuracy of data.
- Respond to calls from employees regarding incidents and exposures, and contact employees using contact centre software and multichannel applications.
- Assist in preparation of Employer's Report of Injury or Occupational Disease according to WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Notify managers, investigators, and local Workplace Health team members of reported incidents and exposures, and ensure information in the WHITE database is complete.
- Act as a resource and contact for internal and external inquiries to the Workplace Health Department, and provide information on early intervention resources.
- Refer injured or ill employees to Disability Management Resources, Safety Resources, and Occupational Health Nurses as needed.
- Compile and maintain statistical data, and produce and distribute summaries, reports, and tracking sheets using various software applications.
- Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in medical transcription, and one year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to keyboard at 50 w.p.m., communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and deal with others effectively.
- Ability to organize work, operate related equipment, and perform physical duties of the position.
