Job Summary

As a Health Care Aide at Southern Health-Santé Sud, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our residents and patients. Under the guidance of our Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, or Registered Psychiatric Nurses, you will assist with daily living activities, ensuring the highest level of comfort and dignity for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist residents and patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Support with mobility and transfers, ensuring safe and efficient movement
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents and patients
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to confidentiality and privacy standards
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute Care)
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and privacy requirements, including PHIA and FIPPA legislation
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements, including WHMIS
  • Knowledge of Violence Prevention Program (VPP) training and processes
  • Knowledge of SCHIPP training and processes
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably caring for elderly or disabled clients
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload, work effectively as a team member, and communicate effectively with residents, patients, and healthcare teams
