Job Summary:

The Shift Leader is a key member of the Operations team, responsible for overseeing and ensuring the smooth operation of the shift. This includes managing and coordinating the activities of all departments and their employees, motivating and organizing teamwork, and continuously exploring opportunities to create savings and benefits for the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a safe environment for all employees, adhering to all GMPs, food safety, and HACCP programs.
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of all departments and their employees.
  • Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork within the workforce to create strong morale and achieve or exceed departmental goals.
  • Continuously explore opportunities in processing and operations to create savings and benefits for the company.
  • Verify and approve production and packaging scheduling of personnel to accommodate production needs.
  • Support all established plant and departmental goals and objectives and maintain programs and procedures in operations.
  • Review operational schedules and manufacturing activities to ensure that production and quality of products meet specifications and run rates.
  • Perform GEMBA walks through the shift to ensure all employees meet GMPs, standards, and specifications, and report non-conformances to the Quality Team.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Complete shift reports and verify the information is accurate and correct.
  • Act as a backup for other departments/shifts.

Additional responsibilities include creating a platform of walk-throughs, meetings, huddles, and reviews that are efficient, informative, and preliminary for ensuing follow-up actions, and holding accountable all employees to meet standards, whether company standards regarding conduct, procedures, and systems.
