Job Summary

The CAHRD Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Healthy Living Project Worker. This role is part of a holistic-based program that focuses on personal development, fitness, nutrition, and gardening for students of the Aboriginal Community Campus, Neeginan Learning & Literacy Centre, Neeginan College of Applied Technology, and tenants/students in Neeginan Village.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support and implement components of the program.
  • Assist in planning and developing fitness and nutrition programs to educate students on healthier living.
  • Contribute to the operations of the Learning Garden, including daily maintenance, planting, and harvesting.
  • Create personal development opportunities for students.
  • Supervise students who will be assisting in the operations of the Learning Garden.
  • Promote gardening as a family activity.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in an applicable field of study, or an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to learn new skills and responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Ability to creatively design information to promote healthy living.
  • Embracing a healthy living philosophy and being skilled at motivating and mentoring students to participate and adopt a healthy living philosophy.
  • Knowledge and awareness of fitness and recreational activities.
  • Ability to design and lead healthy living and personal development activities.
  • Good computer literacy skills and the ability to input, record, and compile data.
  • Strong work ethic, with good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess facilitation skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
