Nordmin Engineering Ltd. is a leading technical resource for the mining and resource sectors, providing innovative solutions to clients worldwide. We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering group.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the electrical and controls team, developing E&C designs, and writing and reviewing technical specifications and proposals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading focused E&C and multidisciplinary technical teams in completing design work for energy, mining, and pulp & paper projects.
  • Completing proposals, estimates of hours, deliverables, and resource requirements, and developing project schedules.
  • Working with management to assess strategic requirements, workflows, and personnel needs.
  • Providing technical oversight, input, and mentorship for junior and intermediate staff on engineering design considerations related to PLC and DCS based control systems, instrumentation, transformers, switchgear and cabling, low and medium voltage motor controls, reduced voltage motor starters, variable speed drives, and industrial lighting.
  • Leading the development of E&C designs in the heavy industrial and energy sectors.
  • Writing and reviewing technical and construction specifications and proposals.
  • Evaluating submissions from equipment manufacturers and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Ensuring proper communications between disciplines and with the management team on projects.
  • Undertaking site visits, inspections, and assessments and working closely with clients to ensure the full and proper delivery of services.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a B.Eng. or B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from a CEAB accredited university, and a minimum of 10 years of engineering design and management experience in electrical and control systems for industrial, utility, or energy applications. Strong communications skills and a commitment to working in a respectful, professional manner with all co-workers and clients are essential.
