Electrical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team at Digital Engineering. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating and performing electrical engineering and design of specialized automation projects for clients in various industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical engineering designs, calculations, and plans for automation projects
  • Assess the feasibility of proposed plans and projects from an electrical perspective
  • Participate in the planning and creation of drawings and designs involving detailed analysis and design of electrical systems
  • Determine electrical specifications, materials, and equipment
  • Specify PLC/HMI hardware, Remote I/O, and communication components
  • Evaluate and review electrical engineering work before release
  • Ensure design compliance with relevant engineering standards and codes
  • Perform power system modeling and prepare power system studies and reports
  • Maintain electrical data, documentation, and drawings
  • Prepare equipment specifications and sizing
  • Conduct calculations such as voltage drop, cable tray fill, etc.
  • Create and maintain drawings using AutoCAD
  • Ensure system or product drawings meet Digital Engineering standards
  • Adhere to change management systems and follow procedures for design, assembly, and testing of control panels
  • Provide progress reports and project updates to managers/supervisors and customers
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, training documentation, reports, and written communications
  • Maintain and securely manage confidential data for internal and external customers
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 4+ years of industrial electrical engineering experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, and ETAP
  • Experience with project management and document control processes
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Codes, electrical engineering principles, and industry standards
