Job Title: Pipeline Engineering Intern

DNV's Energy Systems North America Region is seeking an Engineering Intern to join our Advisory Services Department in the Service Area for Midstream/Downstream & Labs. This team of engineering consultants specializes in pipeline hydraulic and flow assurance modeling, internal and external pipeline corrosion management, hydrogen pipeline studies, and computational fluid modeling.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Apply engineering concepts such as fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics to carry out consulting studies.
  2. Work effectively and efficiently within a group of engineers and consultants to model pipeline systems and associated facilities.
  3. Compile data received from clients and determine the appropriate methodologies and calculations to solve issues at hand.
  4. Learn how to use engineering software including Synergi Pipeline Simulator, Synergi Gas, Abaqus, and COMSOL.
  5. Engage in innovative energy transition projects involving hydrogen and carbon capture pipelines.
  6. Document analyses, processes, and procedures in a technical format to clearly deliver results and impact of those results to clients.
Requirements:
  • Engineering Student (preferably Mechanical, Chemical, Oil & Gas or Pipeline) from an accredited university.
  • Microsoft Excel and Word, strong technical writing skills, problem-solving, critical thinking, and ability to pick up technical concepts quickly.
  • Detail-oriented mindset, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to respect and understand cultural diversity.
  • Supportive and proactive team member, eager to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Travel requirement 10%.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft PowerPoint, Macro, VBA.
  • Python programming experience.
  • HYSYS.
