Overview

Magna, a leader in automotive technologies, seeks an experienced Production Operations Leader to drive success in our fast-paced manufacturing environment.

About the Role

This is a senior leadership position responsible for leading production operations, ensuring safety, cost, quality, and performance targets are met. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of motivating and developing teams, with a minimum 5-10 years of management experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a work environment based on fairness and concern for people, aligned with Magna's Employee Charter principles.
  • Lead, manage, support, and direct staff through effective goal setting, performance monitoring, communication, and on-the-job training.
  • Maintain effective staffing levels, create succession plans, and develop employee development plans to support current and future needs.
  • Develop and execute an annual strategic plan for the department, supporting company performance objectives and industry benchmarking.
  • Promote Standardization, Kaizen activities, and implementation of the Magna Production System (MPS/TPS) principles.
  • Analyze data related to department effectiveness, establish action plans for continuous improvement, and develop new processes as needed.
  • Facilitate effective communication through department meetings and an Open Door philosophy.
  • Ensure visibility and accessibility to employees, practicing Management By Walking Around (MBWA).
  • Accountable for department budget preparation, approval, and attainment.
  • Drive assembly efficiency and effectiveness by implementing projects, challenging operating practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Safety is paramount; correct unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring all health and safety policies are followed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of management experience, with a proven track record of leading and developing teams.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
  • Experience with complex manufacturing processes, automotive knowledge an asset.
  • MPS/TPS knowledge/training an asset.

Estimated Salary Range

$120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
