About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Wall and Ceiling Installer to join our team at Evalex Contracting Corporation. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing drywall and plastering systems in various locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Education and Training
    • No formal degree, certificate, or diploma is required for this role.
  • Work Setting
    • Our team works in various locations, including residential and commercial sites.
  • Tasks and Responsibilities
    • Instruct apprentices in the art of drywall and plastering installation.
    • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to ensure a smooth finish.
    • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster to create a durable and attractive surface.
    • Clean and prepare surfaces for installation.
    • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to ensure they are ready for finishing.
    • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners.
    • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife.
    • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required.
    • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets to create a sturdy and secure surface.
    • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency.
    • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim to add a touch of elegance to our projects.
    • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists.
    • Smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry.
    • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings to create a unique and functional surface.
    • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound.
    • Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring.
    • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets.
    • Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings, and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath.
    • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied.
    • Install exterior and interior steel studs.
    • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools.
    • Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation.
    • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts.
    • Estimate costs and materials.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
    • This role is physically demanding and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal Suitability
    • We are looking for a team player who is client-focused and reliable.
  • Experience
    • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in drywall and plastering installation is required.
    • This is a permanent position with a 40-hour workweek.
    • The language of work is English.
