Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Culinary Team Member to join our team at CB Canada. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality food-to-order for our guests based on established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cut and prepare food items for cooking
  • Set mise en place daily
  • Prepare simple sauces and observe and test all food items
  • Clean and maintain the work area and equipment, ensuring proper sanitation adherence
  • Ensure that food-quality adheres to kitchen management standards
  • Assist with food presentation for special events as required
  • Assume daily responsibilities according to business needs and work within all areas of the culinary department as required
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of food items for all outlets
  • Responsible for supervision of all outlets in the absence of the Sous Chef(s), Chef
  • Develop and cultivate strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, employees, vendors, and regulators
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations
Requirements
  • Embracing the Casino Nova Scotia culture and philosophy and having a playful, infectious, and ‘all about the guest’ attitude
  • Culinary Inter-provincial Red seal certificate is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years cooking experience: 3 years as a 2nd Cook or 1 year as a 1st Cook, is required
  • Previous experience in Banquets and line cooking is required
  • Proven customer service skills with both staff and guests are required
  • Garde Manger & Saucier experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of self-motivation is required
  • Demonstrated communication skills and must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, is required
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure, is required
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving abilities is required
  • Must be able to lift 25 kg (required)
  • Must be flexible and able to work various shifts
