About the Role

The Senior Manager, Standards Research will play a vital role in growing and strengthening CSA Group's research program, enhancing the quality of the current standards portfolio and addressing emerging standards' needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic relationships with internal and external parties to ensure research activities align with the program's mandate.
  • Manage the operations of the research program, including research project setup, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Work with CSA staff and committees to identify research needs and emerging trends in standards development.
  • Promote CSA's research program internally and externally, enhancing awareness and reputation.
  • Manage the research budget and develop strategic collaborations with internal and external parties.

Working Relationships

  • Reports to the VP, Research and Education.
  • Supervises Managers, Standards Research (3+).
  • Works with CSA staff and management, including Standards Project Managers, Program Managers, and Directors.
  • Develops collaborative working relationships with corporate functions and external stakeholders.

Dimensions

  • Management of budgets between $1-3 million.
  • Staff size: 3+ (Managers, Standards Research).
  • Accountable for the selection and management of high-value research projects.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Graduate degree, preferably a Ph.D.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in a standards or research environment.
  • 5 years of experience managing people.
  • Experience in developing strategic research direction, conducting research experiments, and publishing.

Work Environment

  • Office work environment.
  • Business travel up to 25% per year.
