Are you a skilled professional with a knack for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues? Do you value safety and sustainability as top priorities? We're seeking a highly skilled Millwright to join our team at our Grande Prairie Sawmill, where you can utilize your technical expertise, communication skills, and troubleshooting abilities to keep our modern sawmill operating at peak performance.
This role is a full-time rotating position with a weekday schedule (two weeks of days, two weeks of afternoons) and a minimum of 40 hours per week. The starting rate is competitive, and we offer a range of benefits, including disability insurance, pension, extended medical insurance, paid time off, and a relocation package for those moving from outside the area.
As a Millwright, your responsibilities will include:
- Working with a high-performance team dedicated to maintaining all mill machinery, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers, and chains.
- Performing preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance, which involves inspecting machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
- Effective time management, assessing carefully when to assemble, move, replace, or dismantle machinery.
- Applying your knowledge, skills, and experience to troubleshoot issues, enhance equipment reliability, and implement safe, reliable fixes to keep the mill running.
- Having great attention to detail to identify and request relevant parts for timely repairs.
- Accountability for assisting in creating a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and site visitors.
We're looking for candidates who:
- Hold a Red Seal Certification.
- Have the physical capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrate a high degree of urgency.
- Have knowledge of the lumber or industrial manufacturing process (an asset).
- Possess experience with welding procedures and equipment reliability (an asset).
