Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team as a Supervisor of Supervised Consumption Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing emergency medical care and supervision in a harm reduction model at our supervised consumption site.

About the Role

The EMT Supervisor will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, deliver harm reduction supplies, and offer clinical interventions and education. This role also includes overseeing naloxone distribution and other health education and support through our Safeworks program.

  • Assess and evaluate patients' needs, providing individualized care and support.
  • Deliver harm reduction supplies, including needles, Narcan, and other essential items.
  • Provide clinical interventions and education on substance use and harm reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate with peers and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medical care, experience working in harm reduction environments, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Hold current registration as a Primary Care Paramedic with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • Have a minimum of 1 year of experience working in emergency medical services, preferably in harm reduction environments.
  • Be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (FARE).
