About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cost Estimator to join our team at Maxim Recruitment Ltd. As a Construction Cost Consultant, you will play a key role in providing professional cost management services to our clients in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate comprehensive project estimates based on conceptual drawings.
  • Prepare take-offs from systematic design (early stage).
  • Prepare tender documents for projects.
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including subcontractors and clients.
  • Utilize industry-standard software, such as 'On screen', SAGE, and Timberline, for estimating and project management.
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with clients and other team members.

Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar capacity as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or Cost Consultant.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Capacity to write a summary of substructure, shell, and interior services.
  • Excellent client-facing skills.
  • Understanding of the Canadian construction market and various practices used within it.
  • Working knowledge of the construction industry, including development, contracting, and consulting sectors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to work efficiently on assigned tasks and meet deadlines.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

University Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Structural, or Civil Engineering would be beneficial.
