Job Title: Associate Director, Cost Planning

Altus Group is seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our Development Advisory Team in Calgary. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with the management team to deliver cost consulting services to clients across various asset types and accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance to a team of consultants to deliver cost consulting services efficiently.
  • Review and interpretation of design documents to measure and quantify specific building elements.
  • Consolidate and perform analysis of project estimates utilizing benchmarking data.
  • Direct the distribution of inputs required for the preparation of estimates.
  • Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance of reports produced by others.
  • Provides direction, leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the team.
  • Act as primary contact for all client communications on projects.
  • Accountable for sourcing new clients/business and developing and building long-term client relationships.
  • Preparation of Fee Proposals in response to client requests/RFP's.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary technical diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Sciences, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or related fields.
  • Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) per CIQS, Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) per CIQS, or Member RICS (MRICS).
  • 10+ years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, construction, or project management or related field, and minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Construction Consulting or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of the local construction industry, public and private owners, general contractors, sub-trades, contracts, Lien Acts, pricing, estimating methods of measurement, etc.
  • Full and deep understanding of Quantity Surveying/Cost Planning services.
  • Proficient in using MS Office, CostX, Estate Master.
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, honesty, and work ethics.
  • Proven strategic thinking, analytical skills, and strong business acumen, with a focus on business development.
