We are seeking a seasoned construction professional to lead our projects from inception to completion.

About the Role

The Senior Construction Director will oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring timely and within-budget completion. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, this individual will work closely with clients, architects, consultants, and various departments within the company to guarantee project success.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee project execution, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • BUILD and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, including owners, architects, consultants, trades, and public entities.
  • Evaluate and implement effective safety measures, providing key leadership, setting examples, and ensuring safety minutes are documented.
  • SUPERVISE, mentor, coach, and train project personnel, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of contract documents and ensure all permits, insurance, and bonding are in place.
  • Assist in the tendering and award of trade contracts, convene pre-construction meetings, and manage the budget process.
  • Participate in design processes when required, manage value engineering, prepare baseline schedules, and track delays.
  • Apply for Extensions of Time and additional costs, manage Change Orders, and resolve contractual and technical issues.
  • Prepare and present monthly Project Cost Reports, review and authorize sub-trade and material payments, and ensure accurate cost coding.
  • Conduct regular site reviews and meetings, deal with day-to-day correspondence, and apply for substantial performance and total completion.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in ICI construction, with a strong background in project management.
  • Engineering degree (Civil/Construction/Architectural) or technical college diploma in Construction Management or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, cost control, contract administration, technology, equipment, means, and methods.
  • Strong understanding and adherence to safety standards, Gold Seal Certified an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project, Suretrak, Primavera P3 or P6, Axis Accounting Software, Procore, and BIM software knowledge an asset.
