Network Specialist Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Network Specialist to join our team in Montreal. As a key member of our Network Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our high-performance network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and operate our network infrastructure to ensure high performance and reliability
  • Analyze and troubleshoot network architectures and topologies to identify and resolve issues
  • Monitor and ensure the network is in a high-performance state, with minimal downtime
  • Work closely with other operations teams to establish business requirements and maintain cutting-edge systems
  • Ensure best practices are implemented by auditing and configuring routers, switches, firewalls, IDS, ISE, and monitoring solutions
  • Support the configuration, installation, and testing of equipment, including custom hardware platforms
  • Conduct quarterly network audits to identify potential risks and resolve them
  • Escalate critical incidents as necessary while keeping stakeholders informed
  • Test custom network protocols and solutions in a dedicated lab environment
  • Follow incident and change management processes
  • Document networks, processes, and configurations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Telecommunication, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of experience in large networks
  • Good knowledge in Switches, Routers, Fortigate firewalls, ISE, IPS/IDS, Web servers, and Linux
  • Interest in and ability to learn new emerging technologies as needed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply both industry standards and out-of-the-box solutions when necessary
  • Intermediate knowledge in network automation
  • CCNP, CCSP, CCIE, NSE, JNCIP-ENT, or equivalent certification
