Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and physically fit individual to join our team as a Vegetable Farm Worker at North Canal Produce Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various tasks related to vegetable farming, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply the technique of hoeing between rows to maintain crop health and prevent weeds from growing.
  • Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots to ensure efficient distribution.
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops to promote healthy growth and maximize yields.
  • Weeding and cleaning work areas to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, and farm produce, livestock, and poultry to ensure efficient logistics.
  • Clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens to maintain a clean and healthy environment for animals.
  • Perform general farm duties, including maintaining farm machinery, equipment, and buildings.
  • Clean and maintain work spaces to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed to prevent accidents and maintain a healthy environment.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: Experience an asset, but not required.
  • Physical demands: Fast-paced environment, repetitive tasks, work under pressure, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, manual dexterity, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, and walking.
  • Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Work Environment

The work environment is outdoors, with exposure to wet/damp, dusty, hot, noisy, and cold/refrigerated conditions. The work site is a rural area, and the work setting is a farm.

North Canal Produce Inc. is a recognized employer, and this is a seasonal work term. The work language is English, and the hours are 40 to 60 hours per week.
