Job Summary

We are seeking a Culture and Engagement Specialist to join our People & Culture team. This role will play a pivotal part in promoting a positive workplace culture, fostering diversity and inclusion, and supporting our Truth and Reconciliation commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture, including team-building activities, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of employee events and activities, ensuring they are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Work with the Manager, Culture & Engagement to develop and maintain relationships with local Indigenous communities and organizations to support E-Comm's Truth & Reconciliation commitments.
  • Plan and execute programs, events, workshops, and activities that promote understanding, education, and reconciliation.
  • Assist in the rollout of IDEA initiatives, ensuring they are integrated into all aspects of the organization.
  • Support the development and delivery of IDEA-related training programs to promote a culture of inclusion and equity.
  • Collect and analyze data on IDEA metrics, providing insights and recommendations to drive continuous improvement in diversity and inclusion efforts.
  • Coordinate all aspects of new employee orientation, including scheduling sessions, preparing materials, and presenting information.
  • Gather feedback from new hires about their onboarding experience and recommend improvements to enhance the process.
  • Support Learning & Development by scheduling and organizing training sessions, including booking venues, arranging materials, and coordinating with trainers and participants.
  • Create and manage training materials, resources, and documentation to support continuous learning within the organization.
  • Maintain records of training participation and progress, and generate reports to evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives.
Requirements
  • Completion of a certificate or degree in Human Resources or a related field, plus experience in a unionized environment, employee engagement, learning and development, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a progressive People & Culture environment.
  • Thorough understanding of human resources best practices, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the work performed.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce and demonstrated ability to promote an inclusive work environment.
  • Knowledge of strategies for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
  • Prior experience working in a unionized environment would be particularly advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees, management, and external partners.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for handling sensitive employee information and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Capacity to make informed decisions based on data and organizational policies.
