We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team at CIMA+. As a key member of our energy sector team, you will play a crucial role in the development of our expertise in the field of hydroelectric turbine-generator consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out preliminary unit modernisation projects, including plant technical audits, analysing customer requirements and drawing up technical specifications
  • Conduct engineering projects for generating set modernisation/replacement, new power plants, major parts refurbishment, power increase analysis, cost estimates, schedules, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, etc.
  • Verify compliance with contractual technical requirements of documentation produced by suppliers, such as drawings, calculation notes, manufacturing procedures, purchasing specifications, assembly procedures, etc.
  • Prepare technical reports, analysis reports, verification reports, technical modification requests, non-conformity reports, etc.
  • Oversee manufacture in the workshop and assembly/modification of units on site
  • Select, optimise and hydraulic size turbines based on curves and reference hydraulic model tests
  • Perform calculations to optimise power plant output
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces between turbine-generator sets and civil, mechanical and electrical plant structures

Requirements:

  • University degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Current member (or eligible to become a member) of l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the design, manufacture and assembly of turbine-generator sets
  • Demonstrate a high degree of autonomy
  • Fluency in written and spoken French
  • Fluency in spoken and written English in a professional context to ensure communications on certain projects at a national level
  • Willingness to travel to clients, on site, and to suppliers from time to time
