The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team. As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing expert nutrition advice and care to patients, families, and communities. You will work collaboratively with healthcare teams to develop and implement nutrition plans, provide education and support, and promote healthy eating habits.
Key Responsibilities- Provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities.
- Advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.
- Lead team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation.
- Participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including preceptoring dietetic interns.
- Contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a range of healthcare services.
- Bachelor's degree with a major concentration in Foods and Nutrition.
- Dietetic Internship Program.
- Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association.
- Minimum one year of working experience as a dietitian.
- Inpatient clinical nutrition experience is an asset.
- Competency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition.
- Experience counseling patients in an outpatient setting.
- Current WHMIS is an asset.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, familiarity with the Meditech information system is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure of time limitations.
- Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, French is preferred.
- $32.94 - $43.42 Hourly.
