About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dietitian to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide expert nutrition advice and support to patients, families, and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities.
  • Advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.
  • Lead team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation.
  • Participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including preceptoring dietetic interns.
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Dietitian who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major concentration in Foods and Nutrition.
  • Dietetic Internship Program completion.
  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association.
  • Minimum one year of working experience as a Dietitian.
  • Inpatient clinical nutrition experience is an asset.
  • Competency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition.
  • Experience counseling patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Current WHMIS certification is an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications and familiarity with the Meditech information system is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure of time limitations.
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred.
Hours

This is a permanent part-time position, 80% of full-time hours, 60 hours bi-weekly.
