Job Title: Registered Pharmacy Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Bayshore HealthCare. As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy, working closely with our licensed pharmacists to process prescriptions, prepare medication compounding sheets, and program infusion pumps.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in maintaining federal, provincial, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps).
- Enter prescriptions into the prescription software (Kroll) and fill/bill such prescriptions.
- Schedule patients for repeat medications.
- Prepare compounding sheets for the preparation of medication.
- Program infusion pumps for medication delivery and prepare other devices.
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and labeling of medications as allowed by law.
- Receive and transcribe verbal prescriptions (with the exception of narcotics, controlled drugs, benzodiazepines, and targeted substances) from prescribers, ensuring prescription completeness, and provide prescription transfers.
- Package and dispense prescription medications after a pharmacist has decided on the appropriateness of therapy by confirming accuracy, completeness, and final check of compounded sterile products & prepared prescriptions prepared for release.
- Check the final compounded sterile product for the absence of particulate matter and container integrity.
- Ensure prescription(s) gets matched to the right delivery in good timing to shipping.
- Assist pharmacists in filling refill medications through the prescription software (Kroll).
- Communicate appropriately with all members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain pharmacy records, including filing and documenting required information on dispensing records.
- Clean work areas routinely in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Document appropriately according to P&Ps, all activities using required paperwork (logs).
- Participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities, education programs, and department/branch meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate/Diploma from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Registered with the College of Pharmacists and in good standing.
- Experience in a busy community pharmacy setting or specialty pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Organized and disciplined; basic computer skills.
Salary Range: $54,600 - $58,500
