Water/Flood Technician Job Description

Job Summary:

BELFOR Restoration is seeking a highly skilled Water/Flood Technician to join our team. As a Water/Flood Technician, you will be responsible for emergency response and restoration projects, ensuring insurance company and customer goals are met through water remediation procedures in accordance with IICRCS-500 Standard.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work on job sites providing water pumping and extraction, mold remediation, moving and re-setting contents, selective demolition, debris disposal, setting drying equipment, and carpet cleaning services.
  • Participate in vehicle safety and maintenance inspections, ensure vehicle is cleaned and restocked at end of shift, construct polyethylene enclosures, and maintain equipment.
  • Participate in and demonstrate an understanding of safety principles and practices, follow all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment.
  • Comply with all BELFOR policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements.
  • Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job to the appropriate person.
Requirements:
  • IICRC certification for Water Restoration Technician (WRT) required.
  • IICRC certification for Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT) an asset.
  • Previous construction, restoration, or insurance experience considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with chemical products, including use, disposal, and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices.
  • Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per BELFOR's vehicle policy.
  • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-driven to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attend all BELFOR-sponsored training courses.
  • Basic computer and/or Tablet/iPad experience.
  • Willing to work evenings, on call, and weekends when requested.
  • Periodic travel may be required.
  • Criminal Record Check.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted (from 35-65% of the time).
  • Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted (up to 50% of the time).
  • Access and mobility in tight spaces.
  • Fit Testing – half and full face mask as needed, annual certification required.
  • Working at Heights - over 5 feet, periodically.
  • Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
