About the Role

New Value Solutions is seeking a skilled Disaster Response Specialist to lead the implementation of Phase 2 of the Joint Emergency Management Plan (JEMP) for our client and their regional partners.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in disaster planning and experience collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups, including municipalities, Indigenous communities, and government agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the existing Joint Emergency Management Plan (JEMP) and its Phase 1 recommendations.
  • Assess partner capacities and contributions to Phase 2 implementation.
  • Conduct meetings with JEMP partners, including Nekaneet First Nation, Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, and others, to align on roles and responsibilities.
  • Facilitate the establishment of a Regional Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) Planning Committee.
  • Organize and lead in-person Planning Committee meetings throughout the contract term.
  • Support the Planning Committee in reviewing, revising, and ratifying the JEMP document.
  • Provide guidance on implementing Phase 1 recommendations.
  • Assist with capacity-building efforts to enhance emergency preparedness and response.
  • Deliver progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Submit final project deliverables, including revised JEMP documentation and committee recommendations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in disaster planning or consulting, with a focus on multi-jurisdictional projects.
  • Proven experience working with municipal, provincial, federal, and Indigenous government agencies.
  • Strong facilitation and coordination skills, particularly in engaging diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
Compensation

The hourly rate range for this position is $45 - $75, with the final rate based on consultant experience and fit for the role. The estimated annual salary is around $93,000 - $156,000 depending on the work hours.
