To be considered for this position, applicants should have a Bachelor of Social Work degree from a recognized university and be currently registered with the BC College of Social Workers. In addition, they should have post-degree preparation in program-specific areas, such as Gerontology, Palliative Care, and/or Mental Health & Addiction Services. A minimum of two years of recent, related experience working in the specific service area is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid BC Driver's License is also necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable legislation and various community-based health and human services.
- Provide counseling skills, including crisis, loss, and grief counseling.
- Educate and provide consultation to clients, caregivers, families, support groups, and other healthcare professionals.
- Meet deadlines and determine emergent situations.
- Organize, prioritize, and coordinate workload in a complex environment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other healthcare providers.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Foster good public relations and work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Problem solve and resolve conflict.
- Operate related equipment, including computerized systems.
- Keyboard at 30 wpm and physically and emotionally perform the duties of the position.
